OSTAR heart spectrum indexes

The OSTAR heart spectrum indexes I1, I2 and I3 are the reference healthy status indicators for the heart, which are defined through clinical studies using the patented OSTAR heart spectrum technology. The indexes are the analysis results of normal blood pressure measurement data obtained with the OSTAR heart spectrum blood pressure monitor.


The OSTAR heart spectrum blood pressure monitor applies the oscillometric method to measure the blood pressure and pules. The sensor inside the OSTAR heart spectrum blood pressure monitor detects the vibrations of the blood pressure by the connected cuff on the upper arm of the user and save the data in time domain pressure wave. The time domain pressure wave is then transformed into a frequency domain wave by means of FFT (fast Fourier Transformation).


After the FFT transformation, the OSTAR heart spectrum blood pressure monitor performs an analysis using the patented heart spectrum technology. The analysis results are displayed with primary frequency peaks and are thereafter categoried as 3 frequency regions, the first frequency region, the second frequency region and the third frequency region.


When observing abnormal frequency, the frequency peaks other than the primary frequency peaks are considered as heart noises and are quantitied as the heart spectrum indexes. The quantitative calculation of heart noises are determined by the number of abnormal frequency peaks appeared, applying the proportional scale factor determined by removing the background noise from clinical pre-test results.


The sum of abnormal frequency peaks (heart noises) in the first frequency region is the value of the heart spectrum index I1 , and the sum of frequency peaks (heart noises) in the second frequency region is the value of the heart spectrum index I2, and the sum of frequency peaks (heart noises) in the third frequency region is the value of the heart spectrum index I3.


Clinical trials also indicate that the heart spectrum index I1 is the noise index of arrhythmia, and the heart spectrum index I2 is the noise index of the heart valve, und the heart spectrum index I3 is the noise index of the coronary artery.

Index I1 - the heart noise index of irregular heartbeat (arrhythmia)


I1 is the heart noise index of irregular heartbeat. The normal heart has a certain frequency of heartbeart, this is a normal phenomenen. If the heart beats faster or slower than the main frequency of the heartbeat, the OSTAR heart spectrum blood presure monitor displays the number of happenings as Index I1.


For normal heartbeats, the value of index I1 is zero (0).


If the faster or slower heartbeat occurs only once during the measurement, the value of index I1 is 1, if it occurs twice, then the value of index I1 is 2 and so on. The highest value of index I1 is 20.

Index I2 - the heart noise index of heart valves



I2 is the heart noise index of heart valves. When the heart beats once, the valves are opened and closed twice. If the heart valves do not close completely or prolapse the blood flow will generate abnormal vibrations, the OSTAR heart spectrum blood presure monitor displays the number of happenings as Index I2.


For a smooth blood flow without abnormal vibration, the value of index I2 is zero (0).


If the abnormal vibration is detected only once, the value of index I2 is 1. If it is detected twice, then the value of index I2 is 2 and so on. The highest value of index I2 is 20.

Index I3 - the heart noise index of coronary artery



I3 is the heart noise index of coronary artery. When the blood is pushed out by the heart, while the aortic valve was opening, it flowed to the aorta and continue to the rest of the body except the coronary arteries. Only when the aortic valve is closed, will the blood flow into the coronary artery. When the coronary artery is normal, there is no abnormal vibrations generated by the blood flow. If the coronary artery has abnormal vibrations due to blood flow, the OSTAR heart spectrum blood presure monitor displays the number of happenings as Index I3.


For a smooth blood flow without abnormal vibration, the value of index I3 is zero (0).


If the abnormal vibration is detected only once, the value of index I3 is 1. If it is detected twice, then the value of index I3 is 2 and so on. The highest value of index I2 is 10.
